The 2012 summer is going great in Buffalo Bill’s Cody/Yellowstone Country! Lots of folks are spending their vacation with us. We are all excited about a few new and improved things to do in our area. In addition to the “Must-do” list, here are a few new things in Cody this year.
The Heart Mountain Interpretive Center opened in August last year at the site of the World War II relocation center where more than 14,000 
Japanese Americans were confined. Internees began arriving at the center in August of 1942 and the center closed on November 10, 1945. The Center offers a glimpse into life at the camp through photographs, artifacts, oral histories and interactive exhibits. There is a memorial walking trail that leads visitors through key moments of the camps history. A trip to this National Historical Landmark is a must while visiting the area.
The Cody Trolley Tours are a great way to see Cody and learn about the area and history. This summer, the Trolley has added a Heart Mountain tour. Guests hop aboard the air conditioned Trolley and travel though the agricultural district of Cody/Yellowstone Country. Guides provide the history, legend and lore of the area’s agriculture on the way to Heart Mountain Interpretive Center. Once at the Center, guests have an hour to explore before heading back to Cody. This is a great way to experience the history of the area.
YLoop Road Trips is a new tour company offering tours into Yellowstone National Park and other area adventures. YLoop offers certified interpretive
guides, healthy food, eco-friendly and new, comfortable vehicles. Trips are suitable for the family with kid-friendly activities along the way. Trips into Yellowstone include admission to the Park, lunch, snacks and a pick up from your Cody or East Yellowstone location. These trips are great for those who what to see and experience the Park but don’t want to hassle with driving and want a little more insight into what they are experiencing in the Park.
The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is a wonderful collection of 5 museums dedicated to the American West. A newly redesigned Buffalo Bill Museum officially opened in June. This museum features new collections on Buffalo Bill the man and the showman. This museum also interprets the history of the American cowboy, dude ranching, western conservation, and frontier entrepreneurship. Beautifully done, this museum will get you excited about the west!
